The Almost White Christmas Cactus

A few days ago we had to go out for an errand to Lowe’s and of course I can’t resist looking around the Christmas decorations and plant area.   A few years ago I had a white Christmas Cactus and it had died so I have been wanting to replace it with another one.

There was a large selection of Christmas cactus and I had a fun time looking at all of them, trying to find a white one that hadn’t finished blooming.

The buds on this one looked white and there was only one bloom open that looked almost white.  But now that it is home and another bud or two has opened it has the most delicate shade of pink mixed in with the white.

The plant is full and has many buds on it, some of which are now appearing pink.  This plant is certainly a different colour than my other Christmas Cactus, which has finished blooming, and I will certainly enjoy it, even if it is almost white.

I’m sharing with Fertilizer Friday and Garden Bloggers Bloom Day.

  1. We share the interest in Christmas cacti. They are an easy houseplant here in South Dakota. I can imagine a pioneer bringing a slip of cactus with belongings on long travel in early settlement days to remind them of home.

    • Oh-h-h a hint of purple sounds really pretty, I’d better keep my eyes open for some of those.

  3. I really love my Christmas Cactii and have quite a few of them. The blooms are now almost spent, but I will get a second flush a little later on. I love the peachy pink one you have. Hope you have a good weekend.

  7. Nice shade of pink. I only have two Christmas cactii, a red/pink one and a yellow one. I will probably add to my collection next year, if I can make room for more on my windowsill.

  8. When I lived in California I had a beautiful Christmas cactus on the front porch. It lived for years, but I left it behind when we moved north. – Margy
