Make some bird cakes and get enjoyment watching the birds feed in your garden.
a recipe created by Crafty Gardener
Use small amounts of each to fill the container
-regular bird seed
-black oil sunflower seed
-other seeds or food you know the birds will enjoy
-2 tbsp lard, may vary depending on the size of your container
-2 tbsp peanut butter, may vary depending on the size of your container
-a container that fits into your wire basket suet feeder
In a bowl add the ingredients.
Melt the lard and peanut butter in the microwave.
Pour over the seed.
Mix. Add more lard and peanut butter if you think it isn’t sticking together enough.
Press mixture into a container that is the same size as your hanging basket (either buy a bird cake ready made and use the container it comes in or use a plastic sandwich container).
Freeze for a couple of hours.
Pop out of the container and slide into the suet feeder.
Hang in the garden.
