It’s Not Here Yet!

It’s Not Here Yet! The warm weather!  But then again it usually isn’t at this time of the year, we just want it to be! It has been a mixed weather week with chilly temperatures, pouring rain, wind, clouds and some sun. On rainy days I’ve been doing some crochet, trying out a couple of new patterns for dishcloths.  One is called Round & Ridgy and the other is Granny Round Ripple. Enjoying the Weather

Enjoying the Weather We have had some really nice days, just perfect for walking by the bay, decorating the garden, and relaxing and reading outside. The water was calm and clear on our walk by the bay at the end of the week. Look at the water dripping off the swan’s beak as it came up after  dunking for food This swan has a lot to say as a gull tried to move in on its territory. The osprey was letting us know she was on her nest … perhaps protecting young.  This is one of the nests that we check

After the Rain

After the Rain The April showers were pouring down last week, and they even included a bit of wet snow.  Rains are great for washing away the sand and grit from the winter.  In between there were some nice sunny spells, just perfect for getting outside.  But they didn’t last long and I needed to take the opportunity when it happened.   The grass is greening up and we’ll soon be hearing the lawn mower motors as everyone gets outside more.  Hopefully all this rain will fill up the water tables so those of us on wells won’t worry so much after last year’s

April Arrives

April Arrives We are marching right into April so it is time to spring-i-fy things.   Even though it’s not planting time there is some decorating and maintenance work that needs doing  in various places in the garden.  Here’s 5 things I’ve been working on. It was time to do away with the greenery baskets that are getting brown and put up the bumbershoot displays. I made these umbrella displays a couple of years ago using items from the dollar store and some ribbon.  I have one on each side of the garage door to fit in with the April showers theme for spring.
