It has been wonderful keeping my eye on the sky this week. There have been glorious sunrises, stormy skies and an amazing moon.

On Christmas morning the sun was just rising. We already had a covering of snow from a day or so before.

On Boxing Day morning the sky had that red glow to it.

And true to the old saying “Red sky in the morning, Sailor take warning” a huge storm moved into our area that evening and dumped up to 30 cm of snow on us.

This morning the moon was there in its glory.

It was sinking quickly just before 7:30 am. Now the sun is out, the sky is blue and we are in for a sunny but cold day.
Are you a sky watcher? Why not check out some more awesome Sky Watch photos.

Beautiful Sky!
I really like the setting sun… looks like it has found a little spot in your tree..
Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
Sounds to me like your skies are way more lovely than what we have here> overcast. I really want to see some sun soon.

It is a wonderful sunny day here. The cat is following the sun spots around the house and basking in it.

I mainly use Picasa for my collage images and then add text with Pixelmator (an editing program like Photoshop but for iMac). I’ve used Pic Monkey but never sure if the images I upload are ever removed from their servers. I’m very skeptical about sites that might end up using your images for something else. At least with Picasa it is downloaded onto my computer and I know where the images are.
Looks gorgeous. Heard on the news last night that that moon is called a cold moon.
Glad we’re in Las Vegas for this winter, not missing that snow!

That is good to know what the moon is called. Enjoy your time in Las Vegas.

Beautiful photos! I am also a skywatcher but have never joined Skywatch Friday. I must do that in the new year as I am always taking photos of the sky. You sure got a lot of snow from that storm. I think we got about 20 or 25 cm. but it was whipped around so by the wind it’s hard to tell.

There’s nothing like sunset on snow. Not in a good position for sun rises here I have to get out and walk to the top of the hill that faces my town but (not a morning person!.) Great for sunsets though.
