Enjoying the Garden

Categories: The Garden 2016.

There is lots going on in the garden as we head into the summer solstice.  The long daylight hours have been wonderful giving more time to enjoy the outdoors.

One of the yucca I received from a friend in 2013 is setting one of the big flower stalks.  This was the smaller of the plants and it has taken its time in liking the new location, but this spring it had all hairy bits of the leaves so I knew I would be seeing some blooms.

The red bellied woodpecker has been visiting on a regular basis lately.  We recently moved one of the feeder poles back by the honeysuckle garden and it seems to really like it there.

The shrubs (potentilla, ninebark and wegelia) are flowering in colours of yellow, pink and red.

Capturing the butterflies as they flit from bloom to bloom is a challenge.  This one is a white admiral and the photos aren’t the best.

Did you see when I made some crochet little teacups for a big teacup planter?  I planted some thyme in the cup and it recently started blooming.

The summer season is here and it is time to relax and enjoy the garden, the grandkids and the daycations and slow down on website posts.
