A Wheelbarrow Planter
What a great way to use an old garden wheelbarrow and an old garden umbrella. I filled an old, rusting out wheelbarrow with dirt. There were already drainage holes in the bottom from metal fatigue! In the very center I placed a large round plastic tub with a hole in the bottom. The plastic tub was filled with rocks to help steady it, and then I poked an old garden umbrella through the pot's hole and right through the bottom of the wheelbarrow. The plastic tub was then filled with dirt and I planted petunias in the pot and the wheelbarrow. This planter sits beside a small garden pond and gives some needed shade to the fish on a sunny afternoon. There are some pop bottle fish attached to the edge of the umbrella. I can move the planter to any spot in the garden for some instant shade. |

Here is another old wheelbarrow that is planted with a perennial ground cover.
