Stepping Stones

These are mosaic stepping stones that I made as decorations for my garden.

I have a large collection of old keys that I wanted to use around the edge of one stone.

The second design came from a piece of broken pottery that I found and the spiral inspired me to use gem stones in a sprial pattern.

There are a few places on the web that give detailed instructions for these stones.

Basically I started with a round paving stone,  tiles that I broke, old keys, and gem stones.

First lay you design out on a circle of paper the size of the stepping stone.

Using Crafters Goop glue I transferred and fastened the pieces to the paving stone.

The keys they were lower than the mosaic tile, so they had to first be glued onto a thinner piece of tile to raise them to the same level.

After it was thoroughly dry you can add the grout, being sure to get into all the small places around the pieces.

When the grout is thoroughly dry you can add a sealant so the tiles can be left outsdie.
