Mini Gazing Ball Plant Poke

This mini gazing ball plant poke is made from an old hard rubber ball, some gems, glue and grout.

First a hole was drilled about half way into the rubber ball.  This provides the hole to sit it on the stake.

Glue the flat sided gems all over the ball.  I used a clear glue called Crafters Goop.

When dry, add the grout.  I use a waterproof grout so it does not need to be sealed before putting outside.

I apply the grout with my fingers, poking it into all the small spaces.  Let grout dry for about 10 minutes and then take a slightly damp cloth and clean over the gems to get rid of the excess grout.  As these gems are small, you need to go around each one and remove the excess grout.  Fingernails are good for this!!  or an exacto knife.

Finally add a piece of metal or dowel into the hole in the ball and poke into your tub of flowers.

Turn an old bowling ball into a gazing ball.
