My gosh, the time is going by quickly. Here it is the last Friday in March already. Spring arrived on the calendar last week but we are still waiting for some lovely spring weather to arrive. The sun has been out and trying to trick us into going outside, but it is still chilly and wintery.
The gardens are beginning to appear from under all those mounds of snow. In the photo below you can see the snow is all gone from the fountain planter and the edging of the windmill garden is almost totally visible. I’m getting a little impatient waiting to get out and enjoy the outside. I bet you are too!
Five on Friday is a fun way to share what has been going on during the week. Here are 5 things that brought a smile to my face this week.
I finished off my latest knitting project of a scarf made from soft alpaca yarn. I do most of my knitting while watching tv shows, usually Coronation Street or the Masterpiece Theatre. This scarf was finished off while watching various curling matches … Women’s Worlds, Elite 10, and the Scotties. I had better get out and buy some more yarn to watch the upcoming Men’s Worlds and the Players Championship that are coming up in the next couple of weeks. The pattern is called April Scarf and is a free download from Revelry. I originally shared the starting of it in this post.
I got some pussy willows to add to my upside down bumbershoot. I had to take it down for a few days as those March winds came blowing through and I didn’t want it damaged. Now it is back up, hanging under the front window. I added something else to this display but I’ll share it later as I haven’t taken all the photos yet.
New rain boots
I treated myself to a pair of new rain boots. I have the kind that come up almost to my knees and I’ve had duck boots but wanted some that just came above the ankle. While walking through Walmart I came across the perfect ones. I tried them on in the sunshine on the deck. It looks like I got them just in time as the rain started on Wednesday.
The spring garden flags went up this week. I love looking out the kitchen window and seeing the daffodils on the flag. It draws my eyes away from the snow that is remaining.
There is also a new fall over the front door.
Mr & Mrs Cardinal
The cardinal has been long and loud in his call for his mate. How lovely to see both of them at the same feeder on a sunny day.
These were just five of many things that brought a smile to my face and some sunshine into my heart this week.
What made you smile this week?
I’m sharing with Five on Friday.
