Christmas is Coming

Categories: Christmas.

The festive season just seems to sneak right up on us. Having homemade decoration or gifts or gift wrapping makes it all the more special.  With less than a month to go, time is getting scarce and I may not publish as many posts of the site as usual.  This is a collection of the various crafts and decorating ideas that have been previously shared on my website.  I hope you find an idea or two to make yourself. Clay Embellished Ornaments

Categories: Christmas.

~ This is a way to fancy up those shiny coloured ornaments.  I used a cold porcelain dough, some plain and some tinted green to cut out leaves to add to the ornaments.  This was a craft we made at Creative Crafting.  Thanks to the instructor, Gail, for making the clay and sharing it with us and providing us with the recipe so we could make more at home. The clay was easy to manipulate and cut out easily with left cutters.  Mine came from Michaels with a 50% off coupon which made them a really good deal.  You roll

Making Beaded Ornaments

Categories: Christmas.

~ I love it when Christmas comes creeping in.  Doing a little bit now means I don’t have to do a whole lot later on.  There is gift making and ornament making going on right now These little ornaments will add some sparkle to your Christmas tree.  They are quick and easy to make and would also make nice gifts.  You need the plain coloured ornaments, some beads and a glue gun … and a fair bit of patience as it can be a challenge getting the tiny beads onto the ornament with sticky fingers My stash of beads seems

A Mini Wreath

Categories: Christmas.

~ Christmas crafting started a week or so ago at our Creative Crafting group.  Here is a little mini wreath made from a curtain ring, some twine, little bits of felt, some red berries or sequins and glue.  This can be used as a Christmas ornament on the tree or as a gift topper. The curtain ring is about 7 cm or 2.5 inches in diameter. I’m showing the ring with a Toonie, the Canadian two dollar coin in the middle to give you an idea of the size. It already had a ring at the top to attach a

Crafty Ornaments

Categories: Christmas and Crafty's Projects.

~ Christmas crafting has begun.  I know it seems early but these ornaments didn’t really seem like Christmas crafting as they are yarn related. I made a couple of easy and quick crafty ornaments for knitting and crochet friends.  They look like just balls of yarn with a hook or needle poked through, but they aren’t. Supplies:  styrofoam ball, button, fishing line, small amount of yarn, crochet hook or knitting needles, label Styrofoam balls don’t usually have a way to hang them so I use a button and fishing line.  This method works for all sorts of things unless they are heavy.  Cut a piece

Beads and Buttons for Decorating

Categories: Christmas.

~ December is here and we are getting closer and closer to the holiday season.  Have you started decorating yet?  Here are some of my favourite things made with buttons and beads.  I’m into simple decorating with lots of recycling where possible. These homemade ornaments will add sparkle and glitter to your decorating.  I started with solid ornaments (colour didn’t matter) and covered them with pearls and beads.  Hang them by the lights on your tree and they will glitter and sparkle. I had lots of fun making these button trees after finding them at a craft sale a couple of years

A Tuckered Out Reindeer

Categories: Christmas and Kid's Crafts.

~ This poor reindeer is all tuckered out after a hectic holiday season.  Find out how to make one of your own.  I’ve also included a few other reindeer crafts that I’ve had posted over the years. The pooped out, tuckered out reindeer is a cute craft.  I received my original one many years ago as a gift and I always get it out at Christmas time.  You need 4 pom poms (2 inch diameter) for the body, 4 pom poms (1 inch diameter) for the feet, 1 pom pom about half inch to an inch for the nose and one
