Winter is Knocking

~

Winter is knocking at the door.  We had a couple of brief snow showers a few days ago but that only lasted a few hours.  Last night a huge system moved into southern Ontario and left a thick coating of snow.  Thank goodness for the Canadian flag and the blue bottle tree else there would be no colour at all.

Here are both bottle trees coated in snow.  Did I mention it is only mid November and technically it is still Fall.

Yesterday we had the red bellied woodpecker visiting the peanut feeder.  I’m sure he knew more than we did and was stocking up on food before the storm.  This is the male as the red extends right down to its beak.

I wonder if he flew off to any of these places before the storm as we haven’t seen him today.

Winter was knocking at the door, but I didn’t open it and welcome him, but he came anyway – an unwelcome guest.  Please go away and don’t come back till much later in the year.

Lovely photos of the winter wonderland and the woodpecker! I love the pops of colour on your property, from the flag and bottles (and birds).

I brought my little point & shoot to the office today, and went out early to snap a few pics. I’m done now, got some pretty snapshots, feel that we can move along to Spring and bypass anymore winter, thank you very much.

The first snow is always beautiful! I love to watch snow falling and wish that we would stay white until after New Years but I truly wish it would be gone by March!

Our first snow was a thin layer which didn’t hang around. We have had construction in our area since the Spring and they haven’t finished yet. I really hope they get the paving done before it’s too late!

Love seeing your banner! And it’s more fun to look at your snow pics than to experience it! lol I’ve gotten soft in recent years. I was out today and felt cold and it was 70! hahaha! Happy Thanksgiving my friend! Hugs, Diane
