Winter Greenery Arrangements

Do you have a large empty flower pot by your front entrance that was filled with lovely flowers all spring and summer?

Why not fill it with different greenery from your garden.

I cut branches from my cedars, yew, pine and juniper shrubs and I also cut several spikes from sumac bushes.   Poke them all into the soil in your large pot and you will have a welcoming arrangement all winter long. If you aren't fortunate enough to have trees and shrubs that you can cut from on your own property, perhaps you have a friend that has lots of trees that will share a few branches with you.

There are two types of sumac ... the poisonous ones (Toxicodendron vernix) and the staghorn variety. The poisonous ones have white berries while the staghorn variety have the red plumes.  The two varieties never grow side by side.

I have also filled the old bbq planter and some old tubs that sit on my deck 'pot garden'.

I have arrangements in a wall planter by the garage ... very nice curb appeal.

I filled a smaller pot with some winter greenery and added it to this reindeer holder.   It will sit beside my wooden Christmas tree at the front of our house.
