Embroidery: Mini Sewing Needle Case

posted in: Embroidery, Sewing | 5

The weather has been amazing for the end of October and the beginning of November. So I’ve tried to be outside as much as possible so not a lot of stitching has been going on.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

I started to make a mini needle case to fit into the floss storage container. I have been getting lots of use from the needle minder but needed a place to keep some extra needles in the storage case.

I used 2 pieces of felt, cut to fit into the small compartments. It measures 5.5 x 4 cm with the inside piece of felt being slightly smaller.

I’m trying a different stitch that I saw on another site. Don’t really know the name of it, just that it will make a flower. I used pins to mark out where the thread (6 stands) was wound around. Then using 3 strands I did some stitches to hold it in place before removing the pins. The center was filled in with french knots.

Details will be added next. Watch for next week’s post for some finished photos.

I did get some work on the stitch book pages. Slow and steady.

Page 4 had some of the flowers finished. Still lots to do.

Page 8 of the stitch book had one flower completed (lower right corner), and two flowers in progress (upper right, lower left) and the remaining squares had patterns simply drawn in. The blue flower was done using french knots on a stick.

This was a fun stitch to do and I’m sure I’ll be adding to some future embroidery work.

The weather will be changing over the next week and getting more seasonal and tonight (in Canada) we set the clocks back one hour so that means it will be dark a lot sooner, so perhaps more stitching time will happen.

I get lots of inspiration from other stitchers at Slow Sunday Stitching and appreciate all the visits and comments from there. Visit them and gather some inspiration for yourself.

Really lovely embroidery. One of these days I’m gonna do some slow stitching. Very cloudy here today. We had our first few second drizzle the other day and everyone got very excited at the prospect of rain again. Don’t get much here in the desert. Take care.

Thanks Tammy. I can’t believe how wonderful the weather is for November. We’ll take this kind of weather for awhile yet, but I know that it will change soon. Have a great weekend.

I love the variety in your stitch book. I like the idea of making a little needle case for the floss container. I might steal that idea. The flower you added is very pretty. We also set the clocks back last night here in the US. I find stitching when it is dark difficult so I will be using the extra light in the morning.

Thanks Cathie. I have an extra bright light set up behind my chair where I stitch, so have it on on these darker evenings.
