Goodbye 2020 Hello 2021

December was a milder month than we usually have, with lots of rain. There was snow on the odd day but it quickly melted away with the temperatures above 0 Celsius or washed away with the rain.

I didn’t take as many photos for the December series of Through the Garden Gate, probably because it isn’t a month I spend a lot of time in the garden.

Beautiful sunsets and later in the month a full moon.

A rainy day quickly changed to snow in just under a couple of hours.

We have a barn/wild cat that comes around, probably because of the bird feeders and over the cold months we have been putting out a small bowl of food for it. And look – even the bluejay the cat watches waits till the cat has gone and comes for a nibble of cat food.

Through rain and snow our favourite bird, the cardinal, continues to visit the garden.

Goodbye to the garden journal for 2020 and hello to 2021. I’m looking forward to gardening season and starting a new gardening journal.

I’m sharing with Through my Garden Gate.

December isn’t the best month for the garden is it? Love seeing the snow and the cat you are feeding. The bluejay and the cardinal are species we don’t have here so they are lovely to see, it’s the sparrows here that are the most frequent visitors to our bird feeder. Wishing you a good 2021,thanks for sharing your lovely garden with us.

Hi Sarah, it certainly isn’t a month to spend much time in the garden. But I love checking it out through the windows, and of course watching all the birds that visit the garden in all sorts of weather.

    Happy New Year

I really miss the birds like we had back in Iowa. A month or so ago I saw a couple of doves but don’t see them any more. They were fun to watch. My favorite bird is the cardinal and hearing it sing.

    Have have a nice day.
