‘Soup’er Recipe: Ham & Potato Soup

posted in: 'Soup'er Recipes, Gluten Free | 3

The weather has turned really chilly, so much so we had to get out the extra blanket for the bed and even had the fire on for a couple of evenings.   This is the type of weather that makes us turn to comfort food.  So for this ‘soup’er Sunday I’m sharing a recipe for ham and potato soup.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

This is a good recipe for using up left over ham and along with potatoes, onions, mushrooms, celery and your own gluten free white sauce, it makes a delicious soup made in the crock pot.  As usual I tend to tweak recipes that I find to suit myself, so this is one that I put together myself. All ingredients are naturally gluten free.

Ingedients:

  • white sauce, I make my own with milk and gluten free flour
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1 cup cooked ham
  • 1 1/2 cans water
  • seasonings to taste

You could add other veggies like peas or beans. The choice is entirely up to your taste buds.

Prepare the ingredients and mix in a crock pot.  Combine the soup with water and pour over the ingredients  Cover and cook on high for 4 hours until soup is bubbly and the potatoes are soft.

It’s thick and chunky and you could even use a fork to eat some of it. Comfort food for a chilly day.

We had snow yesterday and it is still here today, hubby had to clear off the driveway today for the first time this season. Yes, it is a lovely delicious soup, almost stew to have on a cold day.
