Craft: Sea Glass Tree

posted in: Crafty's Projects, Nature Crafts | 12

When the grandkids came to visit us from British Columbia in May 2022 they bought each of us a treasure box. When covid started our trips had to be cancelled so I gave them the challenge of finding a container and adding a beach treasure each time they went out, either a piece of sea glass, a small pebble, a bit of broken pottery etc. We would get it the next time we saw them. Who knew it would be almost 3 years before travel was available again.

We had lots of fun looking through all these treasures and deciding what to do with them all. They even found us a few little bits of the elusive red sea glass which went directly into the little container I keep it in.

I decided to make a sea glass tree in a shadow box. I chose brown sea glass for the trunk and shades of green sea glass for the leaves. After arranging them all first, it was time to use the backing that came with the shadow box to get the right size, glue down all the pieces, let dry and add the shadow box frame.

It looks perfect with the other two shadow box images on the end of the bookshelves.

It looks fabulous I have yet to make anything with sea glass, maybe when Mikey gets a little older he can help me find some on the beach, people come from all over England to search for it and it’s just on my doorstep, now you have got me thinking (again! haha) have a lovely Sunday xx

I saved the sea glass for ages, stored it in jars, and used it on various projects. It is so much nicer display in a project than just sitting around in jars. Have a great day.

Hi Vondean, I love seeing the frames as it reminds me so much of out west and the grandkids. Hope you are having a good day.

Hello Linda, you did a great job with the green and brown sea glass. The shadow box looks great on the side of your bookcase. Take care.
